Our philosophy
The plan comes after the child, never before.
A tutoring company sells the same programme to every family who walks in. It is efficient, and it is why so many bright children stall inside it. We do the opposite. We spend the first weeks understanding one student — how they think, where they falter, what they are capable of — and only then decide what the work should be.

Elisabeth was taught at Oxford the way Oxford has taught for centuries — one tutor, one student, an hour of hard questions and no place to hide. It was the finest education she had encountered, and almost nowhere in America could a family buy it. She founded Oxford Tutors in 2005 to change that: for the ambitious child the classroom no longer stretches, and for the gifted child a conventional school was never designed to hold.

The First Conversation
You speak with a principal of the practice, not an intake coordinator — about your child, your hopes, and what has not been working. No forms, no automated calendar. A person, from the very first call.

A Strategy for This Child
We draw a single plan across academics, testing, executive function, and admissions. It is not a package of hours to be spent down, but a considered course, set by how your child actually learns.

The Right Tutor, and a Team
We match one senior tutor to your child by subject and by temperament, with specialists behind them. The mentor holds the strategy. The tutor does the teaching, week after week.

The Long View
Most families remain with us four to six years — from middle school through the university decision, and often beyond it. The tutor does not change. The work deepens as the student grows.
